Hamburg, Germany – Oct 30, 2024 1KOMMA5°, the new energy company from Hamburg, is expanding its team with Fabian Hafner, who joins from Tesla, where he was most recently responsible for regulatory affairs and the further development of the energy market design. As Head of Regulatory & Public Affairs at 1KOMMA5°, Hafner will play a central role in setting the regulatory course for a new energy market in Germany. He will use his extensive expertise in energy policy to support the goals of 1KOMMA5° - in line with his previous role at Tesla.

“With Fabian Hafner's new position, we are strengthening our strategic plan to actively shape the energy market of the future and work on the political framework. His expertise is key to driving the energy transition even faster and more efficiently,” says Philipp Schröder, CEO and Co-Founder of 1KOMMA5°.

The energy transition requires a holistic approach

While the solar market is consolidating, the future of the energy market lies in the broader positioning and flexibilization of electricity consumption: the redesign of energy generation, storage and distribution will be crucial to ending dependence on fossil fuels and making the energy transition affordable. This is where 1KOMMA5° comes in, actively shaping the transformation. It is no longer enough to focus on solar energy alone - the entire energy market must be redesigned in a decentralized, sustainable and efficient way.

Expertise for the future of the energy market

As Manager of Government Affairs at Tesla, Hafner was responsible for the development of innovative energy market designs in EMEA and spent six years shaping the role of battery storage and demand response in the regulation of the German and European energy market. He now brings this experience to 1KOMMA5° to drive the company's goals in the transformation of the energy market. "I am very much looking forward to making an active contribution to the energy transition at 1KOMMA5° at the interface between technology, politics and the market, and to making the energy market fit for the future," says Hafner.

With Fabian Hafner as Head of Regulatory & Public Affairs, 1KOMMA5° is ideally positioned to master the challenges of the future energy world and further expand the company's leading position.
