Hamburg, October 13, 2026 – 1KOMMA5°, the Hamburg-based CleanTech unicorn, pledges to invest over 100 million euros in its energy intelligence Heartbeat AI in 2027. Around 70 million euros come from a new financing round at a pre-money valuation of 1.35 billion US dollars (approx. 1.2 billion euros), up 35 percent from its July 2025 round. Around 35 million euros come from 1KOMMA5°'s own operating cash flow. The funds go into AI development, software capabilities and go-to-market speed.

The round is led by b2venture with Marunouchi Innovation Partners (MIP), one of Japan's leading cleantech growth funds, joining as a new shareholder. Existing shareholders, including CalSTRS, eCapital, G2 Venture Partners and Eurazeo, are participating. With MIP, 1KOMMA5° gains a shareholder that brings deep expertise from its US investments in energy, AI and flexibility.

Philipp Schröder, CEO and Co-Founder of 1KOMMA5°, says: “The new funds add to our existing investment budget, increasing our investment in Heartbeat AI to over 100 million euros in 2027. The objective is clear: the energy system needs a universal energy AI that works as an end-to-end operating system. Our ambition is for Heartbeat AI to become exactly that and to bring clean, affordable energy to millions of people.”

Global electricity demand is surging and renewable generation is growing fast, but grids are struggling to keep pace. Heartbeat AI, the company’s proprietary energy AI, addresses this gap by intelligently aligning production and consumption. It connects and controls the systems installed in customers' homes, such as batteries, heat pumps, solar panels, EV chargers or air conditioning, and profitably sells electricity on their behalf on the power exchange. This lowers energy costs and stabilizes the grid in times of high or low generation.

Heartbeat AI is already compatible with a wide range of energy systems, aggregating more than 1 GW of flexibility capacity in five markets globally – which makes it one of Europe's largest virtual power plants for private households.

Micha Grüber, CFO and Co-Founder, explains: “Five years after our founding, 1KOMMA5° continues to accelerate its growth in all seven markets. In September alone, new customer orders in Germany rose by almost 50 percent year on year. The key driver behind this growth is Heartbeat AI. The new round was the first round focusing specifically on our energy AI solutions and was oversubscribed. We are making record investments in our software while our core hardware business remains profitable and cash-flow positive, and the company remains debt-free.”

As recently reported, 1KOMMA5°’s core hardware business is profitable at the EBITDA level. For 2026, 1KOMMA5° expects organic revenue to grow by 35 to 40 percent year over year. To better finance growth across its customer segments, 1KOMMA5° has secured financing facilities of up to 1.5 billion euros with leading banks for its public-sector and private customer segments in recent months. These facilities leave the company's balance sheet unaffected, so 1KOMMA5° itself is debt-free.

Existing investors in 1KOMMA5° include Hamilton Lane, CalSTRS, G2VP, Porsche Ventures, Eurazeo, b2venture, eCapital, 2150vc, Norrsken, Blue Elephant Ventures, Sabanci Climate Ventures, the Haniel and Schürfeld family offices and Jan Klatten.

Today, around 3,000 people worldwide work toward the company’s vision. 1KOMMA5° is one of the fastest-growing and most profitable startups in Europe.
