Battery must remain off until July 1st, 2025 to qualify for the rebate. If the battery is turned on early and the rebate is later denied, the initial discount must be repaid.
If the rebate never happens – the discount is yours to keep, and the battery can be activated immediately.
If the rebate goes live, we will refund you the rest of the battery rebate amount from July 1.

What is the proposed battery rebate?
The Federal Labor government has proposed a $2.3 billion Cheaper Home Batteries Program to reduce the cost of home batteries by 30%, targeting systems between 5-50kWh installed with new or existing solar panels. The program, set to begin in July if Labor wins the election, will provide subsidies to residential households, small businesses, and community facilities, with potential savings of up to $4,000 for a typical 11.5 kWh battery.
Can I still access other state-based battery incentives?
Yes, the subsidy is available in addition to state incentives.
What happens if Labor loses or the rebate isn't introduced?

Why does the battery stay off until July 1st?
Batteries installed between now and July 1 will be eligible for the rebate, but will need to remain off until July 1.
