Power Up Your Savings with Solar Battery Rebates and Incentives

Starts from 1 November 2024.

The NSW Government is currently offering an upfront discount of $1,600–$2,400 on new home battery installations through accredited installers. The rebate amount depends on your battery’s usable capacity and is only available until 30 June 2025.

Important changes from 1 July 2025:

• The NSW battery installation discount will end and cannot be combined with the new federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program.

• The NSW Virtual Power Plant (VPP) incentive will nearly double, and can be combined with the federal rebate.

• Households can still receive a NSW VPP connection incentive if they already have a battery, or install one under the new federal program.

If you live in South Australia and have a solar battery or are planning to install one, you may be eligible for a cash rebate of up to $2,050 by connecting it to an approved Virtual Power Plant (VPP) under the Retailer Energy Productivity Scheme (REPS).

• Tesla Energy Plan (via Energy Locals)

Your chosen provider will walk you through the connection process and help you submit the rebate paperwork.

ACT residents can access a low-interest loan between $2,000 and $15,000 to support energy-efficient home improvements, such as solar batteries. Most households will pay a 3% fixed interest rate, and repayments can be spread over up to 10 years through Brighte.
