What’s the difference between the Enphase IQ Battery 5P and the IQ Battery 5P with FlexPhase?

Both versions offer 5 kWh of usable energy and the same power performance. The key difference is FlexPhase technology which allows the battery to work on both single-phase and three-phase electrical systems.
The standard IQ Battery 5P is designed mainly for single-phase homes, while the FlexPhase model gives installers and homeowners more flexibility, especially for three-phase properties or future system upgrades.

How much power can the Enphase IQ Battery 5P Flexphase deliver?

The Enphase IQ Battery 5P FlexPhase version can deliver:

  • Continuous output: up to 3.84 kW

  • Peak output: up to 7.68 kW for 3 seconds or 6.14 kW for 10 seconds
    This makes it suitable for running key household appliances, and multiple batteries can be installed together for greater capacity and power.

Can I use the Enphase IQ Battery 5P Flexphase for backup power?

Yes. When paired with an Enphase IQ System Controller and Enphase IQ Microinverters, it can provide backup power during grid outages.


In a single-phase setup, it can back up essential loads. Meanwhile, in a three-phase setup, it can maintain three-phase balance and provide wider backup coverage.

Is the Enphase IQ Battery 5P Flexphase compatible with all solar systems?

The IQ Battery 5P Flexphase is an AC-coupled battery, meaning it works with most existing solar systems.


However, for best performance, monitoring, and warranty support, our energy specialists recommend pairing it with an Enphase IQ8 or IQ7 microinverter system and Enphase Gateway.

How is the Enphase IQ Battery 5P Flexphase installed, and can it be placed outdoors?

Both models are outdoor-rated (IP55) and designed for Australian conditions, with operating temperatures from –20°C to +55°C.
They can be wall-mounted or floor-mounted, and multiple units can be connected for higher capacity.
Installation must be done by an Enphase Certified Installer to ensure safety, proper commissioning, and warranty coverage.
